Nissan Ariya IHS TOP SAFETY PICK

Nissan has recently had two models chosen as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick for vehicles built after November of 2023 for the Nissan Pathfinder and for FWD and AWD vehicles with a 63-kWh battery for the All-Electric Crossover, Nissan ARIYA. This honor reflects strong safety performances in crash tests with new stringent requirements for 2024. The Nissan Pathfinder and the Nissan ARIYA have both been selected for the coveted award for their advanced safety features. If you live near Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Glendale, you can find both the Nissan ARIYA and Pathfinder at Avondale Nissan.

What the Award Means

For a vehicle to meet the criteria for this award, vehicles tested by IIHS must feature headlights with a “Good” or “Acceptable” rating across all trims, must rate a “Good” score for small overlap front and updated side-impact crash test. No less than “Acceptable” in the updated moderate overlap front is allowed and they must achieve at least an “Acceptable” rating in vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash avoidance systems.

The latest update for IIHS requirements includes the addition of a second-row crash test dummy behind the driver’s seat to measure the protection second row passengers receive in a crash. For the Pathfinder, the new IIHS designation adds to its already lengthy safety resume that includes an overall Five-Star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New car Assessment Program (NCAP).
